A tree shear is a specialized hydraulic attachment used primarily in forestry, land clearing, and utility line maintenance for cleanly cutting and felling trees and large shrubs. Unlike chainsaws or mulchers that cut or grind material, a tree shear slices through trunks in a single, controlled motion, leaving a straight cut suitable for further processing or stacking.

How It Works

Mounted on carriers such as excavators, skid steers, tractors, or forestry machines, the tree shear uses powerful hydraulic cylinders to drive two high‑strength steel blades together in a scissor‑like action. When activated, the blades close rapidly around the trunk, shearing it off at a set height.
